The Foothill Municipal Water District reported that its customers used 29% less water overall last month than they did in April 2013, the benchmark year used by the state to determine water conservation tallies.
In La Cañada Flintridge, Valley Water Co. notched a 26% reduction, missing its state-mandated 34% mark. Mesa Crest Water District customers saved 30%, exceeding their goal of 25%.
Crescenta Valley Water District, which serves some customers in western LCF, registered a 36% savings, twice its state-mandated target. La Cañada Irrigation District customers — under a two-day-a-week watering directive — used 11% less than in 2013.
“We are proud of the strong conservation performance seen from our local residents,” FMWD General Manager Nina Jazmadarian said in a release. “We also advise our residents that state officials are in the process of determining the next set of drought actions to implement in light of increased water storage levels due to the March storms. Regardless of any potential relaxing of water use requirements, we must continue to make conservation a way of life.”
Cumulatively, FMWD customers have reduced usage by 27% since the state-mandated reductions began last June.
In a relatively wet March, FMWD customers used 34% less water overall after using more water this February than they had in 2013.
Water Conservation Efforts Continue
