Dignity Health Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center recently awarded $125,000 to five community organizations and their accountable care communities. As in past years, GMH awards grants to organizations partnering together to respond to needs identified in the most recent Community Health Needs Assessment.
In order of ranked concern the needs are: mental health; obesity; substance abuse; diabetes; cardiovascular disease; cancer; stroke; infectious disease; and sexual health/sexually transmitted infections.
The five accountable care communities that received grant awards are:
1. Ascencia, Corporation for Supportive Housing, Recycled Resources for the Homeless, Cal State Los Angeles and Northridge departments of social work and the Northeast Valley Health Corporation
2. Family Promise of the Verdugos, Glendale Unified School District, Boys and Girls Club of Greater East Valley
3. Glendale Parks and Open Space Foundation, city of Glendale Community Services and Parks Department and Glendale Unified School District
4. Kids Community Dental Clinic, Glendale Unified School District, Ascencia, Family Promise of the Verdugos
5. Wellness Works, Glendale Communitas Initiative, Trauma Resource Institute and Veterans Coalition of Glendale and the Verdugos
“Our Dignity Health Community Grants Program seeks to partner with other community organizations whose efforts embody Dignity Health’s five core values: dignity, collaboration, justice, stewardship and excellence,” said the Rev. Cassie McCarty, director of Mission Integration and Spiritual Care Services for Glendale Memorial Hospital. “We are deeply impressed by the accomplishments of our community agency neighbors, and we are honored to support their efforts. Our community partnerships strengthen our Dignity Health mission to improve the quality of life in our Greater Glendale community.”
The Community Grants Program is funded by contributions from Dignity Health member hospitals and supports Glendale Memorial Hospital in its mission to provide compassionate, high-quality and affordable health services.
