La Cañada High School freshman Caylee Kolb recently competed in the So-Cal State Championships at the Ontario Convention Center and
the local standout returned home with four medals, including a first-place finish to earn the title of state champion.
Kolb, 15, scored a 9.475 on bars to win the gold medal, and she also captured two bronze medals on the beam and floor events with scores of 9.225 and 9.475, respectively. She also competed in the vault event and placed fourth with a score of 9.375.
With four medals, the local gymnast earned the second highest all-around score in her age group with 37.55 points.
Kolb began her gymnastics career at the age four and currently trains five days a week at West Coast Elite Gymnastics in Arcadia. She is also in the Elite Athlete Program at LCHS and looking forward to becoming a level 10 gymnast next season.
