Spartans Return to Action; Rebels Win League Game

The La Cañada High School varsity softball team returned from spring break on Wednesday and took on Temple City in a Rio Hondo League game.

The La Cañada High School varsity softball team resumed Rio Hondo League play on Wednesday and will travel to San Marino this Friday. The Spartans entered the week atop the league standings with a 2-0 record.


The Spartans continue league play on the road this Friday, April 7, against San Marino at 3:30 p.m.
Prior to the break, La Cañada (6-1 overall record, 2-0 in league), guided by second-year head coach Chuck Gunter, opened league play with victories over South Pasadena and Monrovia, shooting the Spartans up to the top of the standings.

The Rebels scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and held on for a 3-1 victory over visiting Mayfield Senior of Pasadena in a Prep League game on Tuesday.
Libby Penn led Flintridge Prep’s offense going 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Maia Cohen also sparked the team with a solo home run.
Oshiro, who hit a triple, was dominant in the circle, allowing only one run on four hits and striking out three in seven innings in a complete game effort.
Flintridge Prep (6-3 overall, 3-2 in league) will host San Gabriel Mission in a nonleague game this Friday, April 7, at 3:30 p.m. The Rebels will continue Prep League play on Tuesday, April 12, against rival Pasadena Poly.
