Flintridge Prep Edges La Cañada

The Flintridge Prep varsity boys’ volleyball team rallied past local rival La Cañada, 16-25, 25-21, 14-25, 25-13, 15-11, in a nonleague match on Monday.
The Rebels trailed, 2-1, after three games but bounced back in the fourth with a dominant 25-13 win. They carried over that momentum into the final set to escape La Cañada High with a victory.
AJ Nicassio led Prep with 15 kills and 18 digs, and Jonny Samuels added 11 kills and three aces. Majeed Ismail totaled seven kills and seven blocks, Bruce Dennis and Garrett Gaines contributed two kills each, Jake Althouse had a kill to go with seven blocks and three aces, James Ayers had a kill, Leo Reilly recorded 14 digs, Luke Stiles tallied 20 assists and Ben Ventresca contributed 14 assists.
The Spartans (1-9 overall record, 1-2 in league) bounced back from the loss and defeated visiting San Gabriel in five sets for their first victory of the season on Tuesday. La Cañada will look to make it two in a row today against visiting San Marino at 3:30 p.m.
Flintridge Prep (14-2 overall record, 4-0 in league) will travel to Palos Verdes to take on Chadwick in a Prep League match on Thursday, April 20, at 4:30 p.m.
