Contemporary Ranch

Foyer

Every detail in this modest yet vibrant California ranch is a reflection of the homeowners’ impeccable sense of style and design. Built in 1955 and renovated by its current owners in 2016, it is an artful mix of color and proportion with contemporary flair. Most of the paintings and beautifully crafted furniture were created by the homeowner, adding charm and a distinct look to the home, along with bright paint accents and vivid Oushak rugs. The floor plan of this three-bedroom, three-bath home plus guesthouse was redesigned for indoor-outdoor living, working at home, and hosting adult children and grandchildren.

Historic Tudor

Living Room

This 1923 historical traditional home with Tudor elements is spectacular. The front entry has coved ceilings, lead glass windows and oak floors, which flow into the dramatic living room with original ceilings and a fireplace with Batchelder tiles. A formal dining room has Tiger oak doors, which open into the charming kitchen with a 1930s Magic Chef double oven with bread warmer. The current owners have created functional elements to the home by screening in the sun porch and creating a modern entertainment center in the family room covering a window. This four-bedroom, four-bathroom home has a charming master bedroom suite with a coffee bar, a mini fridge and an office, which was formerly the nursery. The grounds of this beautiful home formerly backed up to the third fairway of the original Flintridge Country Club. Currently, it boasts a beautiful pool and “The Back House,” which is the original pool house.

Custom Colonial

Dining Room

Nestled within Berkshire’s stately neighborhood, this 7,000-square-foot custom new-build colonial home was designed to blend with its regal neighbors while providing for the modern needs of its busy young family. Through the two-story expanse of the front foyer, visitors can catch a glimpse of this home’s story: an open floor-plan, an abundant indoor-outdoor lifestyle and a celebration of natural light. The great room beckons from the foyer with an ample area for entertaining, and wall-to-wall glass doors lead to large, covered patios, a sport court and an in-ground pool. The immaculate white kitchen off the great room includes quartzite double islands, a glass tile backsplash, coffered ceilings and a large adjoining family room — a gathering area that is the heart of the house. His-and-her offices, a large basement for a kid’s play area and two designated upstairs bedroom wings, one for the kids and a more private one for adults, can be seen. A thoughtful balance of the homeowner’s Armenian heritage and their love of transitional spaces is achieved with the help of interior design firm Courtney Thomas Design.

Traditional Colonial: Evening Reception Home

Built in 2014 by contractor Dave Paynter and designer Jenny Raulli, this modern colonial located on an oak-lined street in La Cañada Flintridge was built with the belief that beauty is in the details. Walking into this bright, white two-story home, guests will immediately notice the custom mill work in the entry, which is carried throughout the home. The clean, sleek furnishings and décor keep this traditional-style home modern and unfussy. The expansive great room is complete with custom tile, endless cabinetry, beamed ceiling and an over-sized island in the kitchen. Five sets of French doors open up to an outdoor living space complete with fireplace and TV — perfect for entertaining friends and family. His-and-her offices sit at opposite ends of the first floor along with walk-in pantry and two powder rooms. This home clearly reflects the easy California style of this busy family.

PTA Home Tour Features Reception, Boutique

The La Cañada High School 7-12 PTA Home Tour has new additions to its annual tour of impressive local residences, including an expanded evening reception.
The reception will include a bonus tour of the host home, the musical talents of David Blasucci, appetizers from ETC Gourmet Kitchen and Los Gringos Locos, signature cocktails from the Proper and wines from viaOneHope.
Party-goers also can purchase tickets for “opportunity baskets” for packages to Disneyland, a VIP Experience at Universal Studios Hollywood, a dream weekend at Lake Arrowhead, or a stay at the elegant Langham Hotel in Pasadena. The setting for the reception is the outdoor living space at a stunning traditional colonial home.

“This year, we’re excited about our evening reception at yet another lovely home. It’s going to be a great date night or evening out with friends,” said Mindy DiPaolo, LCHS 7/8 President.
A revamped shopping boutique will be available at one of the tour homes. The boutique features eight unique vendors: Hostess Gifts to Go, Moonlight Clothing, Vahetwisted, Elizabeth Todd, Matilda Jane Clothing, Glassbaby, Victoria Duque Creations and Uber Chic Home. The wide assortment of products range from accessories, clothing, jewelry, hand-blown glass to home décor, and a portion of the sales made that day will be donated to the PTA.
“Teaming up with the 7/8 PTA for Home Tour has been a huge benefit to both schools, as so much of what we do supports the entire 7-12 campus and all the students,” said Lisa Dick, LCHS 9-12 PTSA president and chairwoman of the Home Tour Boutique. “In addition, there will be a special shopping day at Cowgirl Princess on the day of the tour, complete with snacks and spirits. Just bring your Home Tour ticket to the store on April 28.”
Tickets for the 31st annual LCHS 7-12 PTA Home Tour and Reception, to be held Friday, April 28, are available at pre-sale savings. The community may purchase them online at lacanadahometour.com. Local Home Tour partners Printefex, Flintridge Bookstore and the Apple Cart will begin ticket sales on April 12.
The homes will be open for touring from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and from 3:30-6:30 p.m. The separately ticketed evening reception is from 6-8 p.m. Proceeds from this event will benefit the LCHS 7/8 PTA and the LCHS 9-12 PTSA programs, technology, library and campus support.
