Flintridge Prep Boys Recapture League Title

It was the same story at the Prep League finals on Friday with the Flintridge Prep boys and Pasadena Poly girls dominating the meet to reclaim the league championships.
The Prep Boys won nine events at Poly’s pool to win their fifth straight league title with 413 points, which was more than enough to defeat second-place Claremont Vivian Webb (260).
The Poly girls also took home the Prep League crown by winning nine events and totaling 363 points to defeat second-place Westridge (232) and Flintridge Prep (231). The Tigers and Rebels finished tied for second place in the standings.
The qualified swimmers will compete in the CIF Southern Section Division 4 preliminaries at the Riverside Aquatics Complex on Wednesday, May 10.
Andy Langen turned in another stellar performance, winning the 50- and 500-yard freestyle events with times of 21.48 and 4:50.02. He also teamed up with Brett Bell, Matt Ng and Winston Chen to win the 200 medley relay in 1:40.58. Langen was also part of the 400 free relay team, which included Nate Morrissey, Chen and Bell, and won with a time of 3:13.15.
Bell also won two individual events, taking the gold medal in the 200 free (1:46.95) and 100 backstroke (51.99). Winston Chen contributed a first-place finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:01.08 and took home silver in the 100 back with a time of 52.86.
Ben Brookbanks posted a winning time of 50.61 in the 100 free and also teamed up with Oliver Brookbanks, Ng and Morrissey to finish first in the 200 free relay (1:32.59).
Morrissey finished second in the 50 and 100 free events with times of 22.56 and 50.79. Ng also won a silver medal in the 100 butterfly with a time of 57.55, and Daniel Wang contributed a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:05.16.
Ryan Huntley was third in the 100 fly with a time of 58.10, and Brendan Ashworth posted a time of 1:06.44 in the 100 breast for third place.
Emily Alameddine led the Flintridge Prep girls’ side with four top-three finishes. The sophomore won the 100 free with a time of 53.51 and placed second in the 200 free with a time of 1:57.05. Alameddine teamed up with Lena Pawlek, Emily Jacobs and Makena Walklett to win a silver medal in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:53.83. She also helped the 400 free relay team, which included Lara Friedman, Pawlek and Walklett, place third with a time of 3:50.70.
Pawlek swam in her final Prep League final and finished second in the 500 free with a time of 5:26.75. She also took home a bronze medal after finishing the 200 free in 2:00.87.
Paige Nixon, Cameron Bielawa, Sophia Pawlek and Friedman teamed up to place third in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:51.26.
