PCY Experiments at Science Night

01 Anjali and Colin Rao, Xoshil Chen-Marquez and Sara Jeffires

Paradise Canyon Elementary School held its monthly Science Night and the young scientists were able to explore scientific phenomena at four different stations, which were run by volunteers from La Cañada High School Girl Scouts Troop 901. Interested scientists and their parents explored static electricity and its power to move things, made square bubbles, made one-cut art designs and worked with cube-shaped robots. At the end of the evening, the young scientists were having so much fun, they didn’t want to go home.
On another day, 2nd-graders in Julie Perdisatt’s class, brought “Dr. Seuss and the Oobleck” book to life. With the help of science teacher Kristine Babbish, they made their own gooey oobleck, using the same experiment that Dr. Seuss did in the book. The students were thrilled with their success and had fun getting their hands gooey.
