La Cañada Remains Perfect; FSHA Wins 3rd Straight

The La Cañada High School varsity softball team kept its perfect Rio Hondo League record intact with an 8-1 victory over visiting Temple City on Tuesday.
The Rams challenged the Spartans early with a run in the top of the first inning, but La Cañada (16-4 overall record, 11-0 in league) responded by getting on the board in the bottom half of the frame and an additional four runs in the second.
Ace pitcher Holly Stoner held Temple City at bay and helped the Spartans win their fifth consecutive win. The junior went the distance and allowed an unearned run on seven hits and struck out six.
Emily Tinkham led La Cañada’s offense going 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored. Gillian Arnold also had a stellar day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Maddy Reilly also collected three hits, scored twice and drove in a run, Dianna Carranza and Taryn Harris each contributed a hit and a run, Meghan Henry was 1-for-2 with an RBI, Hailey Walton scored two runs, and Kathleen Knudsen and Annette Figueroa each collected a hit.
The Spartans, ranked No. 7 in CIF Southern Section Division 4, concluded the regular season at San Marino on Wednesday.

Flintridge Prep 0

The Rebels closed out the season with a 16-0 loss against rival Polytechnic on Tuesday.
Flintridge Prep (9-9 overall record) dropped to 4-8 in Prep League play and fell to sixth in the standings. The Rebels’ league wins were against Westridge, Lynwood Firebaugh and Mayfield Senior.
Seniors on the Prep roster include Therese Oshiro, Maia Cohen, Amari Dennis, Maya Vasquez, Taylor Yoshida and Elida Kocharian.

Flintridge Sacred Heart 9
Los Angeles Marlborough 8

The Tologs edged visiting Los Angeles Marlborough, 9-8, on Tuesday to extend their winning streak to three games.
Flintridge Sacred Heart (2-5 in league) improved to 16-7 and concluded the regular season at home against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame on Wednesday.
The team will honor its lone senior on the team, Bridget Garritty, who will be attending the University of Notre Dame.
