A man was killed after driving his pickup truck off the side of Angeles Crest Highway near Mile Marker 27 and plunging approximately 700 feet. Witnesses called the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Department about 9 p.m. on Wednesday, authorities said.
A Montrose Search and Rescue team worked through the night to recover the man’s body: “Sadly, we can confirm one fatality from last night’s crash,” the organization posted on Twitter.
The Los Angeles Sheriff Department’s Homicide Bureau is handling the investigation of the death, which might have been a suicide, according to Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station Lt. Marjory Jacobs.
Media reports indicated the driver was a Pasadena resident.
