LCF Extends Ring.com Rebate Program

Starting Friday, Dec. 1, another 150 La Cañada Flintridge homeowners will have the opportunity to purchase a Ring.com residential video doorbell system at half price.
After residents continued to express interest in the Ring.com rebate, the City Council voted last week to appropriate $7,500 of additional funding to the program. That will permit residents who register for a unique code to receive a $100 discount — covered equally by the city and Ring.com — on the normally $200 system. To receive the code, residents must email at lcf@ring.com with their shipping address. The rebates will be delivered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Ring.com offers video doorbell cameras, which link smartphone users to their doorbell when the camera is activated by either motion sensors or someone ringing the doorbell. Residents can see, hear and speak to visitors through their smartphones, tablets or desktop computers.
The program initially opened Oct. 24, and within four days, the city exhausted the 100 available subsidies. After that, another 48 residents contacted the city requesting a Ring.com code.
Council members didn’t deliberate long at their Nov. 21 meeting to approve the extension.
“It’s a great small step,” Mayor Michael Davitt said. “We’re taking all reasonable opportunities to combat crime, and so I appreciate and applaud the staff’s efforts.”
