CSF Scholarship Applications Open Now

The Community Scholarship Foundation of La Cañada Flintridge is now accepting 2018 scholarship applications. CSF is a community-supported foundation established in 1964 with the goal of enabling local students to attend college, university or a trade/technical school upon completion of his or her secondary school studies. Full-time students who attend a public or private school located within the city of La Cañada Flintridge, as well as Crescenta Valley High School, regardless of home residency, are eligible to apply for scholarships.
CSF scholarships range from $1,000 to $4,500 per student. Last year, CSF awarded scholarships totaling $35,000. Over the last 50 years, CSF has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships. If a scholarship recipient continues to meet the criteria, he or she may reapply yearly for a renewal up to three years of their CSF scholarship.
Rose Linda Gonzales, vice president of scholarships, encourages high school seniors to check with his or her college counselor, or visit the CSF website. Minimum eligibility requirements include: 3.0 unweighted grade point average, Electronic Student Aid Report 2018-19 (SAR), complete application and financial information, and special circumstance letter. All application and financial information is strictly confidential and is made available only to the third-party professional financial aid consultant. Scholarships will be granted on the basis of academic achievement as well as references, community service and character. Scholarships are awarded for one year, but may be renewed for each year of college, trade or technical school. For more details, consult the CSF website.
All required school and financial documentation, along with reference reports must be received by April 30. Award recipients will be notified in May, and awards will be sent directly to the recipient’s registered schools.
Scholarship applications can be downloaded from CSF’s website at csflacanada.org or obtained at the college counseling offices of La Cañada High School, Flintridge Preparatory School, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, Hillside School and Learning Center, St. Francis High School and Crescenta Valley High School.
