Local Author Speaks to DAR Chapter

Joe Puglia

Local resident Joe Puglia, and a favorite guest speaker at meetings of the Don José Verdugo Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, visited once again, but this time as the author of his newly published book “The Girl With the Purple Ribbon.” Puglia, a Marine Corps veteran, wrote a story of friendships, love and war during divisive and tumultuous times.
The Don José Verdugo Chapter promotes Constitution Week, participates in the local Memorial Day parade, and supports veterans groups and local outstanding school students with monetary awards and recognition.
DAR membership is open to all women age 18 and over who can prove lineal descent from an ancestor who provided aid during the American Independence effort. DAR principles are to perpetuate the memory and spirit of men and women who fought for and achieved American independence, and to preserve historical landmarks, documents, relics and service records of Revolutionary soldiers and patriots. For more information about the DAR Chapter, contact (818) 249-5472.
