Extra Security Added at LCHS

Security at La Cañada High School has been ramped up following the arrest last week of a LCHS student on charges of criminal threats.
The student, a minor, was arrested off campus Tuesday, March 6, following reports of alleged past threats, sheriff’s officials said. There are no current threats, La Cañada Unified School District Superintendent Wendy Sinnette wrote in an email.
Still, Sinnette said the district has added a second community resource officer at the school, and, for the next two weeks, has hired additional campus supervisors.
“There are no active threats, but the additional presence will help calm concerns,” Sinnette said, adding that site administrators were prepared for the walkout to take place Wedensday to both support students and maintain the integrity of the instructional day.
Additionally last month, three students were arrested and three were transported to local hospitals with drug-related medical emergencies in a series of separate incidents.
