La Cañada Elementary School students were ready to travel as they entered their annual World’s Fair and visited Armenia, Chile, Czech Republic, France, Japan, Korea, New Zealand and Russia. Parent volunteers represented the countries, which featured exhibits of the respective country’s flag, currency, cultural and sports aspects and music, as well as sharing interesting facts about the country and its history. Before students said goodbye, they enjoyed food samples and received miniature flag souvenirs before they were off to visit another country. Their visit ended with a surprise visit from New Zealander Nico Ihimaera, the nephew of the author of “Whale Rider,” who performed a dance. The event was chaired by Rosana Chen and Farrell Foley.
