1,500 in LCF Lose Power in Last Week’s Storm

The three-day rainstorm that brought much-needed water to California last week caused a several-hourlong power outage but otherwise spared La Cañada Flintridge from major damage, according to Jesús Armas, the city’s interim director of public works.
On Thursday, March 22, 1,517 Southern California Edison customers in LCF lost power after a fallen tree downed power lines in the 4800 block of Gould Avenue, Southern California Edison spokeswoman Sally Jeun said. The outage affected residents between Angeles Crest Highway, Berkshire Drive and Encinas Drive from 4:43 p.m. until 7:20 a.m. Friday, March 23, she said.
Armas said in an email that the city also received a call of a downed telephone line Flintridge Oaks Drive.
“As to flooding,” Armas added, “we worked with the county crews in advance of the rains to make sure inlets and other likely flooding locations were cleared of any debris. This worked, as we did not have any significant problems.”
Some debris did cause water to back up in the 2000 block of Laughlin Street, Armas said, but “this was quickly cleared and [the] situation returned to normal.”
L.A. County received between 2-3 inches of rain.
