The Great Chocolate Race, which will take place on Sunday, May 6, at Memorial Park in La Cañada Flintridge, is just weeks away. The 2.5k/5k walk/run begins at 9 a.m.
The Flintridge Guild of Children’s Hospital sponsors this event. All proceeds benefit Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Over the last two years, between 500 and 600 runners and volunteers of all ages have participated in the race.
This year’s race organizer and guild member Melinda Gillman is devoted to children. She commented, “The most important job of my life is to take care of children. Forty years ago, I was privileged to join Flintridge Guild of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to help kids who are sick and in need of my assistance.
This race is a super way for this community to get together, have fun, and feel that you are contributing in a child’s life. Plus you can bring your dog.”
Adults and children, as well as dogs, are welcome and can enjoy different chocolate treats at the pit stops, breakfast in the park after the race, and TACH Bash, presented by Teens for the Advancement of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. With such activities as face painting and a bounce house, the TACH Bash is designed to keep kids happy. A silent auction, opportunity drawing and awards’ ceremony complete the morning.
