Spring Home Tour Going ‘Virtual’ This Year

The La Cañada Spring Home Tour has been a local tradition for 34 years, and this year’s organizing committee wasn’t going to let COVID-19 and social distancing curb its efforts. In mid-March, when a quick pivot was needed, the newly reinvented Virtual Home Tour was born.
“The hope is that our community can still come together to help raise counted-on funding for the 2020-21 school year at La Cañada High School 7-12,” said event co-chair Suzanne Jensen. “Last year, Home Tour brought in over $80,000 allocated to very important efforts across campus.”
Home Tour made it possible to deliver valued resources, including the new Wellness Center, impactful guest speakers, science, drama and arts programming, library improvements and athletic coach stipends.
“This year, we’re bringing Home Tour to you, to enjoy from the comfort of your own sofa. We’re stuck at home anyway, right?” Jensen said.
The committee encourages those who have not been able to participate in Home Tour in the past to join in this time. Also by moving to an online event, Home Tour can more easily be shared with design enthusiasts in surrounding communities for a peek at La Cañada living.

The La Cañada Spring Home Tour showcases four houses each year, specially chosen for their architectural styles and design. For the first time, registrants will experience the homes digitally, to inspire ideas and simply for a fun distraction. These virtual tours will be available for a limited time to ticket holders starting May 1. Exclusive online access information will be provided by email. Registration and sponsorship information is available at lacanadahometour.com.
In light of COVID-19, the Marketplace and After-Party have been canceled. Despite this, co-chair Christine Chant said, “Our hope is that La Cañada’s community spirit stays as vibrant as possible during this time of uncertainty by rallying around cherished annual events like Home Tour. We still very much need your support, even if it can’t be in-person this year. We would especially like to thank our business and family sponsors for their commitment to our schools and wish everyone the very best.”
