
The LCHS girls’ soccer team won the Rio Hondo League championship and clinched a CIF-SS Division 4 playoff berth.
The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ soccer team closed out the regular season with an emphatic 4-0 victory over visiting Monrovia last week.
The Spartans won the Rio Hondo League championship with a record of 6-1-1 and hosted Santa Ynez in a CIF Southern Section Division 4 first-round playoff match on Wednesday. Should LC come away victorious, it would advance to face either Shadow Hills of Indio or Anaheim Katella on Friday, May 14.

The top-ranked Wolves capped a perfect season by throttling host Burbank Providence last week.
Sage Shurman scored four goals and helped Flintridge Prep win the Prep League title and secure a No. 1 seed in the CIF-SS Division 3 playoffs. Chayse Lim-Ying scored twice and recorded four assists, Melanie Ng had one goal and three assists, Kate Fuetterer finished with a goal and two assists, and Katie Bennett contributed one goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Ana Bozzi-Mackay was in between the posts for the shutout.
Prep hosted Diamond Bar in a first-round match on Wednesday and, with a victory, would move on to face Lakewood Mayfair or Alta Loma in a second-round contest on Friday.
