First published in the Feb. 24 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ volleyball team opened the season by sweeping the Webb Schools Invitational last Saturday.
The Spartans never lost a set as they cruised past West Covina twice, host Webb Schools of Claremont and Arcadia Rio Hondo Prep, winning each by scores of 2-0. No individual statistics were reported by the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline.
The Spartans (4-0 overall record) will attempt to topple last year’s Rio Hondo League champion South Pasadena after finishing as runners-up with an 8-2 league record. La Cañada is scheduled to visit Claremont for a nonleague match on Tuesday, March 1, at 4:30 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves are scheduled to open their season by traveling to Temple City for a nonleague match this Friday, Feb. 25. Flintridge Prep will attempt to repeat as Prep League champions after finishing last year with a spotless 8-0 record.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights opened the season by hosting Crescenta Valley in a nonleague game yesterday; the result was unavailable by the Outlook Valley Sun’s press deadline. St. Francis is scheduled to compete in the Redondo Union Tournament in Redondo Beach on Friday, Feb. 25, and Saturday, Feb. 26.
The Golden Knights will attempt to topple league rival Loyola High of Los Angeles from atop the Mission League standings after finishing as runners-up with a 9-2 record.
