FSHA Celebrates 90 Years With Anniversary Mass

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy is celebrating 90 years of inspiring young women for a life of faith, integrity and truth.
Nine decades ago, on Aug. 15, 1931, the Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose purchased a hotel at the top of a hill that would become Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy.
On the way up, the car broke down and the three Dominican Sisters, dressed in traditional religious attire, walked to their destination bringing a five-dollar bill, a statue of Mother Mary and their faith. Two weeks later, they opened their doors to 200 elementary and high school-aged girls.

Today, Flintridge Sacred Heart serves more than 350 young women, encouraging each student to pursue truth in her studies — and in her life — to become a courageously curious thinker and the best version of herself. The school offers signature programs in STEM, research, athletics and the arts and is consistently ranked as a top private, boarding and all-girls school.
The Flintridge Sacred Heart Alumnae Association, Campus Ministry Leadership Team, faculty and students recently hosted an anniversary Mass event to make up for the original celebration on Aug. 15, 2021, that was postponed.
“This liturgy will provide us with the opportunity to be in community with our Flintridge Sacred Heart family and honor our Dominican identity,” said Abby Davitt, Flintridge Sacred Heart campus minister. “Let us celebrate all the beauty, love and memories that this place has offered for 90 years and will continue to offer to generations to come.”
