La Cañada Crushes South Pasadena, 17-1

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ tennis team clobbered visiting South Pasadena, 17-1, in a Rio Hondo League match on Tuesday afternoon.
The Spartans’ No. 1 doubles team of juniors Aaron Magtoto and Dylan Lu swept 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, while the No. 2 tandem of seniors Luke Kim and Luke Manion won 6-1, 6-0 before being substituted for seniors Jack Kim and Andre Karayan, who won 6-1. The No. 3 team of sophomore Spencer Moravec and senior Aidan Robinson swept, 6-4, 6-3, 6-0. No. 1 singles player sophomore Konan Sahara swept 6-3, 6-0, 6-0, while the No. 3 Aditya Desai won two sets 7-5, 6-3. No. 2 singles player junior Lance Morgan won two sets 6-0 before being alternated for junior Rahul Gupta, who won 7-5.
The Spartans shut out visiting Monrovia, 18-0, in a league match last Friday. The No. 1 doubles team of Moravec and sophomore David Lee, and the No. 2 doubles team of Robinson and Gupta each swept their three sets 6-0, while No. 3 doubles team of Karayan and sophomore Justin Son swept 6-1, 6-0, 6-0. No. 1 singles player Lu collected a 6-0, 6-2, 6-0 sweep, while No. 2 Magtoto and No. 3 Desai each tallied a 6-1, 6-1, 6-0 sweeps.
La Cañada previously lost its league opener at San Marino, 12-6, last Wednesday.
No. 1 singles player Manion and No. 3 Sahara each tallied one win, 6-2 and 6-1, respectively. The doubles teams each collected one victory, as Lu and Magtoto won 6-2, Morgan and Robinson won 7-6, and Kim and Moravec won 7-5.
The Spartans (5-2 overall record, 2-1 in league) are scheduled to visit Temple City in a league match on Friday, March 25, at 3:30 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves earned a Prep League victory over visiting Palos Verdes Chadwick, 13-5, last Friday. Flintridge Prep was previously edged by visiting Arcadia, 10-8, in a nonleague matchup last Wednesday.
The Wolves also collected a league win at Chadwick, 15-3, last Tuesday as Jeremy Seiben and Ray Cabrera won all of their singles sets. Loran Baxter, Christopher Fung, Neel Saada, Luca Yeghmazar, Justin Sullivan-Pascual, Miles Cabrera, Alec Gutherie, Dilan Robbins and Matthew Wang were all undefeated.
The Wolves (7-3 overall) are scheduled to visit Los Angeles Milken in a nonleague match on Wednesday, March 30, at 3:30 p.m.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights lost a Mission League match to visiting Encino Crespi, 11-7, recently after previously being edged by visiting Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 10-8, in their league opener. No individual statistics were reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
St. Francis (0-4 overall, 0-2 in league) is scheduled to visit Notre Dame for a league rematch on Thursday, March 24, at 2:30 p.m.
