Spartans Idle; SFHS and Flintridge Prep in Action

The La Cañada High School varsity boys’ volleyball team has been idle since sweeping the season series over visiting rival South Pasadena High, 26-24, 25-18, 25-17, in a Rio Hondo League match on Thursday, March 24.
The Spartans (17-4 overall, 6-0 in league), ranked No. 8 in the April 4 CIF-SS Division III poll, will attempt to tally their fourth consecutive sweep when they return to action at Gabrielino High of San Gabriel in a league matchup on Tuesday, April 12, at 3:30 p.m.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights collected consecutive nonleague victories on the road to extend their winning streak to five matches.
St. Francis defeated host Westlake High of Westlake Village, 17-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-20, on Monday, April 4, moving its overall record to 15-5-1 (3-1 in league). Senior Robert Nardoni produced 15 kills and six digs. Sophomore Titus Rodz registered 12 kills, seven digs and one ace.
Junior Gabe Metcalf amassed 40 assists, one kill and six digs. Senior Ben Ferguson and sophomore Will Martinez each had nine kills, while junior Blake Welsh and freshman Ryan Bender finished with two and one kills, respectively. Juniors Drew Miller and Aj Lopez added 11 and eight digs, respectively.
The visiting Golden Knights swept Camarillo High, 25-17, 25-16, 25-17, in a nonleague game on Thursday, March 31. Nardoni led with 12 kills, one ace and eight digs, while Martinez added seven kills and three blocks. Metcalf posted 22 assists, one kill and 11 digs. Welsh notched six kills, Bender had five kills and Rodz registered four kills. Senior Mason Hasbrouck finished with one kill and six blocks, senior Vince Ciampa tallied one kill, and Lopez collected eight assists and nine digs.
SFHS, ranked No. 18 in the April 4 CIF-SS Division I/II Poll, is scheduled to visit South Pasadena High in a nonleague matchup on Thursday, April 7, at 6 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves remained undefeated in Prep League action after collecting back-to-back victories over Rio Hondo Prep of Arcadia and Providence of Burbank last week.
Flintridge Prep defeated visiting Rio Hondo Prep, 25-22, 26-24, 24-26, 25-13, on Friday, April 1, after beating host Providence, 25-15, 20-25, 25-14, 25-20, on Thursday, March 31. No individual statistics were reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
The first-place Wolves (12-2 overall, 4-0 in league) are scheduled to host the rematch with Providence on Thursday, April 7, at 4:30 p.m.
