Flintridge Prep junior Max Brunngraber etched his name into the record books by tossing a no-hitter in the Wolves’ 3-0 shutout victory at Alhambra last Thursday. He struck out 10 batters with a walk as his only blemish on an otherwise terrific pitching line.
Meanwhile, Flintridge Prep senior Nicholas Gonzalez led the offense by finishing 4-for-4 with a double, a pair of RBIs and a run scored. Seniors Diego Ynzunza and Nathan Park each collected a base hit and a run scored, while senior Dominick Schraeder tallied a base hit and an RBI.
The visiting Wolves won their second nonleague game in as many days by downing South Pasadena, 13-7, last Friday as junior John Kully finished 3-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs and two runs scored. Gonzalez recorded a pair of hits, two RBIs and a run scored, while senior Josh Beserra doubled with an RBI and two runs scored.
Park base produced a hit and two RBIs, freshman Will Koh had a base hit, RBI and a run scored, and junior Graham DesHotel notched two RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Schraeder tallied a base hit and a run scored, Ynzunza finished with a base hit, and Brunngraber and senior Spencer Seid each scored twice.
Flintridge Prep (14-2 overall record, 5-0 in league), ranked No. 5 in last week’s CIF-SS Division IV poll, is scheduled to host Providence of Burbank in a Prep League encounter on Friday, April 8, at 3:30 p.m.
ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights lost their sixth straight game after falling at Notre Dame High of Sherman Oaks, 20-4, in a Mission League game on Friday.
St. Francis previously lost the season series to visiting Notre Dame after falling, 6-1, last Wednesday. Senior Luke Fogarty finished 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored, while freshman Jordan Lewallen tallied a double. Senior Simon Lee and sophomore Brody Ruyle each collected a base hit, and sophomore Holden Deitch notched an RBI.
SFHS opened its season series at Notre Dame with a 14-5 loss last Tuesday. The Golden Knights led 2-0 after the top of the fourth before Notre Dame posted back-to-back seven-run innings to seal the victory. Lee went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs while Fogarty produced a double and two runs scored. Ruyle and Lewallen each registered a base hit and an RBI, while Holden Deitch, senior Aaron Petersen and junior Liam Fitzpatrick each scored once.
The visiting Golden Knights were swept by rival Loyola High of Los Angeles after being edged in a Mission League game, 7-6, on March 25. SFHS led until a five-run fifth inning tied the game. Loyola added the deciding run in the sixth. Holden Deitch went 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, while Lewallen also collected three hits with an RBI and a run scored. Senior Quinn Deitch finished 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and a pair of runs scored, Ruyle registered a double and an RBI, and senior Miles Leyva produced a base hit and an RBI. Sophomore John Calmette tallied a base hit and a run scored, while senior Matthew Munoz scored once.
The Golden Knights (4-16 overall, 3-12 in league) are scheduled to host Valencia in a nonleague game on Monday, April 18, at 3:30 p.m.
