Spartans, FSHA Sweep Saturday’s Doubleheaders

The La Cañada High School varsity softball team won its third straight nonleague game by defeating Marshall High of Los Angeles, 12-3, last Saturday.
Sophomore Elle Leckrone led the offense, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, four RBIs and two runs scored. Sophomore Mia Salardino collected three hits, two runs scored and an RBI, while junior Kyra Davis had a 2-for-3 performance with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Sophomore Ashley Lovejoy doubled with a pair of runs scored, junior Riley Breckheimer and freshman Abigail Milton each recorded a base hit and a run scored, and senior Amy Lyman and freshman Grace Rocco tallied two and one RBIs, respectively. Senior Nicole Wong, who went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI on offense, tossed four innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits with seven strikeouts. Freshman Bentley Lebrecque pitched the final inning, working around a base hit with three strikeouts.
The visiting Spartans opened Saturday’s nonleague doubleheader with a 4-2 victory at Granada Hills Charter. Leckrone and Milton each blasted a solo home run, Davis added a base hit, a run scored and an RBI, senior Kylie Sever posted a base hit, and Lebrecque scored once.
LCHS picked up a nonleague victory over visiting Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, 5-3, last Wednesday. Milton belted a solo home run and added a pair of RBIs on two sacrifice flies, while Wong finished 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored. Davis produced a base hit and a run scored, while Lovejoy recorded a base hit. Leckrone, who went 2-for-3 with a double, a pair of runs scored and an RBI on offense, pitched a complete game, allowing three earned runs on five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts.
The Spartans dipped to 6-4 in Rio Hondo League play after being shut out by visiting Temple City, 6-0, last Tuesday as Lebrecque doubled and Lyman had a base hit.
Third-place La Cañada (17-6 overall) will host Monrovia in a league game for its regular-season finale on Thursday, April 28, at 3:30 p.m. The CIF-SS postseason brackets being released this Saturday, April 30, at 10 a.m.

Saying the Tologs had a dominant season might be an understatement. FSHA concluded the regular season as back-to-back Sunshine League champions with a terrific 6-0 record (16-8 overall) while outscoring their league opponents 102-5 in those six games.
Flintridge Sacred Heart will learn its postseason drawing when the CIF-SS brackets are released on Saturday, April 30, at 10 a.m.
In their season finale honoring the team’s seniors, the Tologs picked up a 7-0 league victory over visiting Immaculate Heart High of Los Angeles on Monday. Senior Victoria Ramirez pitched a complete-game four-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk while going 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs, four RBIs and two runs scored on offense. Senior Maddie Napierala collected a base hit, an RBI and a run scored, while senior Lola Low and junior Marie Milton registered a base hit and a run scored. Sophomore Abigail Blea tallied a base hit, senior Caitlin Cruz produced a run scored and an RBI, and senior Olivia Ocon scored once.
FSHA traveled to Rio Hondo Prep of Arcadia for a nonleague doubleheader last Saturday. The Tologs won the evening matchup 8-1 behind strong offensive outputs and great pitching. Sophomore Isabella Guerrero tossed five innings, allowing one earned run on six hits with four strikeouts while scoring once on offense. Senior Faith Blea finished 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs and a run scored, Napierala doubled with an RBI and a run scored, and Ramirez doubled and scored once. Marie Milton added a base hit and a pair of RBIs, sophomore Megan Milton produced a pair of base hits, a run scored and an RBI, and freshman Ava Nawrocki notched two hits and two runs scored. Low registered a base hit and a run scored, junior Meghan Garrity tallied a base hit, and junior Cameron Bender had an RBI on a sacrifice fly out.
Ramirez helped lead the Tologs to a 2-0 victory over Rio Hondo Prep to open Saturday’s doubleheader. She pitched a complete game shutout, allowing two hits and one walk with nine strikeouts while adding an RBI on offense.
Marie Milton finished 3-for-3 with a run scored, Megan Milton collected a pair of base hits and a run scored, and Napierala added two base hits and an RBI. Nawrocki tallied a pair of base hits while Guerrero had one hit.
In arguably their most dominant victory of the season, the Tologs won a lopsided league game at Marymount High of Los Angeles, 25-1, last Tuesday. Junior Ellie McCarthy led the offense after going a perfect 4-for-4 with a team-leading six RBIs and four runs scored. Marie Milton also had a fine afternoon at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, three runs scored and five RBIs. Nawrocki went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, four RBIs and three runs scored, while Ramirez finished 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, four RBIs and two runs scored. Guerrero tallied a base hit, three runs scored and an RBI, Garrity collected a base hit, a run scored and two RBIs, and Bender registered a base hit and a run scored. Ocon and Blea each produced a pair of runs scored and an RBI, while junior Cassie Huston posted a run scored and an RBI. Megan Milton scored twice, senior Jessie Mysza and junior Charlotte Taylor each scored once, and Low recorded one RBI.
FSHA dropped a nonleague game at La Cañada, 5-3, last Wednesday as Nawrocki and Ramirez each doubled and scored a run. Napierala went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Blea had a base hit.
The Tologs posted a 9-0 shut out at Alverno Heights Academy of Sierra Madre in a nonleague game last Tuesday, picking up right where they left off after being idle for over two weeks. Ramirez was dominant in the circle, allowing three hits with 11 strikeouts over seven innings of work while going 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBIs and one run scored on offense. Guerrero paced the offense, finishing 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBIs and two runs scored, while Blea blasted a solo home run of her own. Marie Milton produced two base hits, an RBI and a run scored, Megan Milton went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Nawrocki added two base hits and two runs scored. Ocon registered a pair of base hits and a run scored, while Napierala tallied a base hit and a run scored.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves dropped a nonleague game to visiting Alverno Heights Academy, 13-1, last Thursday. Flintridge Prep was previously shut out by visiting Chadwick of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, 10-0, last Wednesday. No individual statistics were reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
CIF-SS postseason brackets are being released on Saturday, April 30, at 10 a.m.
