Lutheran Church Celebrates Mother’s Day

First published in the May 5 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

A Mother’s Day tradition will continue at Lutheran Church in the Foothills on Sunday, May 8, with motherhood being celebrated in song and stories.
Pastor Chuck Bunnell will lead the service, which will begin at 10 a.m. in person and livestreamed on LCIF’s YouTube channel.
The church is also encouraging early registration for its Vacation Bible School. After a two-year pause due to COVID-19, LCIF will bring back VBS the week of June 27 to July 1. All children in preschool through 6th grade are invited to attend.
This year’s VBS theme is “Rocky Railway,” a faith-filled adventure where kids discover that trusting Jesus pulls them through life’s ups and downs. The program will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day.
The session will end with a song-and-dance performance by the children for family and friends to enjoy. Discounts are offered to families who register early.
Also, a reminder that quilting and knitting groups meet weekly. Newcomers are welcome.
For those interested in technical production, volunteers are welcome to be trained on the church’s livestream broadcast system. They will learn how to operate cameras, graphics and the switchboard.
Pastor Bunnell’s lecture series continues on Sunday mornings from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in the church’s conference room. No prior knowledge of the Bible is necessary.
Visit lcifoothills.org for event details, including small-group gatherings and opportunities to serve.
For more information or to request/offer help, email office@lcifoothills.org, or call (818) 790-1951. The church is located at 1700 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday.
