La Cañada, FSHA Advance to CIF Playoffs

The La Cañada High School varsity softball team will enter the CIF-SS Division IV postseason riding a five-game win streak after defeating visiting Monrovia, 10-6, in a Rio Hondo League game last Thursday.
The victory helped the Spartans secure a second-place finish in the standings with an 8-4 league record (18-6 overall) as they will host Alhambra in a first-round matchup on Thursday, May 5, at 3:15 p.m. If victorious, LCHS will advance to the second round and meet either Oak Hills High of Hesperia (17-9 overall) or Colton (9-12 overall) on Tuesday, May 10, at 3:15 p.m.
Junior Kyra Davis finished 3-for-4 with four runs scored and a pair of RBIs, while senior Amy Lyman tallied two base hits and four RBIs in the victory over Monrovia. Sophomore Elle Leckrone collected a base hit and two runs scored, sophomore Mia Salardino produced a base hit, an RBI and a run scored, and junior Riley Breckheimer notched a base hit and a run scored. Freshman Abigail Milton registered a base hit and an RBI, while sophomore Ashley Lovejoy had a base hit. Senior Nicole Wong pitched a complete game, allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk with one strikeout. Junior Sydney Zoltzman also scored once.
The Spartans previously notched a dominant 15-2 league victory at San Marino last Wednesday. Lyman went 3-for-3 with a home run, four RBIs and three runs scored, Davis finished 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, four RBIs and a run scored, and freshman Bentley Lebrecque tallied two base hits, three RBIs and a run scored. Salardino produced a base hit, two runs scored and a pair of RBIs, senior Kylie Sever posted a base hit, an RBI and a run scored, and Wong, Lovejoy and Milton each recorded a base hit and a run scored. Leckrone scored three runs, while Zoltzman scored once.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs have been idle since shutting out visiting Immaculate Heart High of Los Angeles, 7-0, in a Sunshine League game last Monday. Flintridge Sacred Heart concluded the regular season as back-to-back league champions with a 6-0 record (16-8 overall) while outscoring their league opponents 102-5 in those six games.
FSHA will open the CIF-SS Division V playoffs by hosting Sacred Heart of Los Angeles (6-9 overall) in the first round on Thursday, May 5, at 3:15 p..m. If victorious, the Tologs will either meet Walnut (16-10 overall) or Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy of Victorville (8-7 overall) in the second round on Tuesday, May 10, at 3:15 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves concluded the regular season by losing to visiting Rio Hondo Prep of Arcadia, 9-3, in a Prep League game last Tuesday. No individual statistics were reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
Flintridge Prep finished sixth in the league standings with a 3-9 record (14-13-1 overall).
