The La Cañada Coordinating Council recently organized a candidate forum hosted by Flintridge Prep to introduce the four candidates vying for the two open positions on the City Council in the upcoming election on June 7.
The candidates running for office are Kim Bowman, LCF Parks and Recreation commissioner; Mike Davitt, currently serving on the City Council; Marija Decker, LCF Parks and Recreation commissioner; and Jack Schaedel, LCF Educational Foundation, past president.
Each candidate opened with a personal statement before responding to questions submitted by the audience and presented by moderator, Vanessa Walker-Oakes of Flintridge Prep.
Topics discussed included enhanced recreational facilities, public safety, Flock cameras, maintaining the uniqueness of LCF, state-mandated housing, the schools and focus on older adults living in LCF.
The candidates agreed on more items than they differed. When asked why they wanted to be on the City Council, all the candidates responded by saying they wanted to serve and give back to the community in which they live and to work on maintaining the unique character of LCF while meeting the demands the 21st century.
