The La Cañada High School 7/8 softball team recently concluded a successful 2022 campaign unbeaten with a 6-0 record and winning the 210 League championship by defeating San Marino’s Huntington Middle School, 8-7.
The game was tied at 6-6 when Ava Perry drew La Cañada even with a Sienna Matthews single to right field. Lesley Milton and Laila Kazazian each scored in the top of the fifth inning, Matthews led LCHS 7/8 with two hits in the game and Victoria Kelly who drove in a team-high three runs.
Caitlin Yee and Emma Carmack combined to pitch LC 7/8 to victory, but inning-ending double plays by Milton in the third frame and Sienna Dunbar to end the final inning were key plays for La Cañada’s final win of the season.
