LCPC Jazz Vespers to Give Pentecost Performance

First published in the June 2 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

The Jack Lantz Dixieland Band will present a Pentecost-themed Jazz Vespers in the La Cañada Presbyterian Church on Sunday, June 5 at 5 p.m.
Pentecost is about the Holy Spirit descending upon Jesus’ disciples after he died. The Pentecost celebration is meant to be joyful, and the Dixieland style music selected will ramp up that spirit of joy and celebration.
This Jazz Vespers is presented live and in person in the LCPC sanctuary. In addition, it will be livestreamed at live.lacanadapc.org.
The June 5 Jazz Vespers program will feature the Jack Lantz Dixieland Band with Jack on piano, John Tegmeyer on clarinet, Lance Rickman on saxophone, Jeff Kaye on trumpet and Ido Meshulam on trombone, Nick Morabito on bass and Dave Marks on drums. The band will be improvising on a wide range of familiar Dixieland tunes and gospel music.
“This Sunday is the opportunity for people to have fun, to worship, to celebrate and do all those fun things they like to do with Dixieland music,” Lantz said.
No charge and no reservations are required for this hour-long event; however, free-will offering will be accepted. The church invites the community for an extraordinary celebration of joy, energy and liberation, to celebrate the spirit of Pentecost. There is no charge, and reservation are not required.
The La Cañada Presbyterian Church is located at 626 Foothill Blvd. For further information, call the church office at (818) 790-6708 or visit lacanadapc.org.
