LCHS Equestrians Conclude Season

First published in the June 2 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

The La Cañada High School Equestrian Club team finished 12th out of 72 Southern California schools in the Interscholastic Equestrian League, ranking higher than elite programs such as Flintridge Prep, Campbell Hall of North Hollywood and Studio City Harvard-Westlake.
Eighth-grader Gretchen Louie competed in the Saddle Seat and Western League and placed first in the novice division at every show, pinning her as the champion in the Western Novice Division.
Additionally, the points she accumulated in league helped LCHS win highest overall points for 5th- through 8th-grade schools.
Trophies and high-point rider medals were distributed at the final meeting of the year last week, and Aditi Iyer received the high-point dressage rider medal. Riley Thornburgh was high-point rider in jumpers.
Emilia Osorio-Lowery took the high-point rider medal for hunters/equitation and Gretchen Louie was received high-point rider for the Western Division.
The LCHS equestrian club team is always looking for new members. Anyone interested can email lchseqclub@gmail.com for additional details.
