City Needs to Add Pickleball Courts

First published in the June 30 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

There must be a way for the city to add four pickleball courts to allow for an outdoor venue for exercising and socializing for its citizenry, particularly older adults. Mayor’s Discovery Park has never been crowded with people, and would be substantially more utilized with the addition of four pickleball courts.
I play at Farnsworth Park in Altadena now, which is a beautiful arrangement, but is a 15-minute drive from east La Cañada, and it is often crowded with much waiting involved to play. Could we not add some trees and grass areas somewhere else in the city to compensate for the loss of green space at Mayor’s Discovery?
There must be a way to bring permanent outdoor pickleball to La Cañada. It is a great investment to keep people healthy and active. Please let’s keep on working for solutions!
