Pickleball Courts Would Be Beneficial to All

First published in the Aug. 4 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

As a La Cañada Flintridge resident and pickleball player I am writing in support of the effort to develop pickleball courts at Discovery Park.
Currently, players who reside in La Cañada are limited to temporary outdoor courts for three hours a day Monday through Thursday.
The construction of the proposed four court facility would significantly improve the ability of resident players to enjoy activity so vital to the health and enjoyment of the outdoors without infringing on the quietude of those who reside near the current temporary courts. It would also limit the amount of travel currently employed by resident players who must seek play at courts located in Altadena, Pasadena and Burbank when the temporary courts are unavailable.
In my view, the real benefit of pickleball courts is the enjoyment of physical activity meeting and socializing with others from teens to octogenarians. It’s fun.
