The young chefs in the Assistance League of Flintridge’s Cooking Around the World summer class were recently busy in the kitchen.
There was an introduction to the various kitchen equipment and tools and safety, measurement and receipt reading. Then the cooking began.
With the guidance of Liz Alexanian, students made pasta, paella from Spain, chicken pot pies for the United States and a Mediterranean favorite appetizer triangle spanakopita carefully using filo dough. They enjoyed tasting their dishes from various countries. To their surprise, the chefs also learned how math played a part in making their recipes.
