The La Cañada High School 7/8 PTA is thrilled to welcome everyone back to school for the 2022-23 school year.
We have been working hard all summer with the 7/8 staff to prepare to support our students’ educational, emotional and physical well-being throughout their middle school experience. Our students, families and staff have all been through a lot these past two-plus years, which makes this work even more important.
The school year started off with the PTA sponsored WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) program. Not only does this program help ease the transition to middle school for our 7th-graders, but it also serves as a leadership opportunity for our 8th grade students, selected from an application process, to become positive role models and mentors. After completing two days of training, the WEB leaders met with incoming 7th-graders before school started and planned a tour of the campus, fun activities and ice breaker games. Throughout the year, WEB leaders will check in with their 7th grade team members to provide support and guidance in this new school environment.
One of our favorite events of the year is our annual 7-12 PTSA/Boosters Spartan Tailgate before the LCHS football game on Sept. 16. We hope all school families will join us to enjoy some delicious food and some old-fashioned school spirit before cheering on our football team. All LCHS 7/8 students will get into the game for free with their ASB card.
We are proud to continue our partnership with the 9-12 PTSA to host our annual fundraiser, the La Cañada Spring Home Tour, on April 28. We extend our gratitude to the school family and business sponsors and community supporters who helped make our 2022 Home Tour a huge success and invite all to become involved once again in 2023. Work has already started to make this a wonderful day.
Through the generous donations of our supportive school families and the community, the LCHS 7/8 PTA is able to continue to fund numerous enrichment opportunities for the school. This year, we are able to fund a comprehensive 7/8 athletic program, multiple character development programs with informative, inspirational speakers, the annual Reflections arts and literature competition, books and subscriptions for the library, technology, campus improvements and classroom funds for our teachers.
This school year, the PTA will continue to work closely with Principal Jarrett Gold and our counselors and teachers to ensure that our students have the necessary resources for a world-class education. We invite and encourage all parents to stay connected and involved through PTA. I wish to thank the LCHS 7/8 executive board and chairs for all their hard work and continuous support.
