LCPC Launches Fall Worship Season

First published in the Sept. 8 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

La Cañada Presbyterian Church launches its fall season of events and ministry on Sunday, Sept. 11, by welcoming all to worship at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The 9 a.m. traditional service will be led by the choir and orchestra while the 10:30 a.m. contemporary worship service will be led by the praise band and includes communion. Both services are also livestreamed on LCPC’s website (live.lacanadapc.org).
LCPC’s Family Ministry will provide children’s programs and activities at both services, and youth (grades 7-12), at 10:30 a.m., will have their own praise band and Bible study before joining in communion at the contemporary worship service.
Refreshments and the opportunity to learn about upcoming events will be provided following the traditional service. Following the contemporary service, a fall launch party will include a free taco lunch, as well as a “pump and splash” and fun activities for kids and youth at noon.
A new sermon series entitled, “The Church is Built to Last,” begins Sunday. As LCPC celebrates its 75th year of ministry, the preaching series will reaffirm the core attributes that sustain LCPC as it strives to fulfill its mission to love God and love others. As Interim Senior Pastor Gareth Icenogle explains, “Let’s celebrate our core so we can thoughtfully move into a faithful and vibrant future.”
A three-week adult class, “Living Under the Cross and the Flag: Conversations on Christian Patriotism,” discussing former Fuller Seminary President Richard Mouw’s new book, “How to Be a Patriotic Christian,” will be taught by Gareth on Wednesday evenings beginning Sept. 14. Copies of the book will be available during the week in the church office and on Sunday morning after the worship services.
Information and sign-ups will be available for visitors and guests about the church’s many ministries, including Parent Education, Local & Global Outreach, Life Groups, Women’s Ministry, Men’s Ministry, Pastoral Care, Music, Children, Family and Youth, etc.
All are welcome. Launch Sunday worship and events are held at 626 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada Flintridge. Learn more about LCPC by visiting lacanadapc.org.
