Flintridge Prep Remains Undefeated; Golden Knights Fall in League Game

The Flintridge Prep varsity boys’ water polo team recently dominated host South Pasadena, 16-4, in a nonleague matchup last Wednesday. The two squads previously met at the second annual Pasadena Poly Invitational, where the Wolves won 13-2 en route to a tournament title.
The Wolves took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter behind a pair of goals by senior Ty Young and one goal from senior Henry Brookbanks. Flintridge Prep went on to dominate the second and third quarters, building an 11-2 lead in the process heading into the final quarter of play.
Senior John Bennett amassed 16 saves in the cage. Meanwhile, senior Noah Corral collected a team-high four goals, and Brookbanks and sophomore Charlie Simonian each finished with three goals. Young and sophomore Ridley Tolleson each produced two goals, while senior Michael Gamboa and sophomore Elliot Oakes each scored once.
The Wolves (7-0 overall) will return to the pool this weekend when they compete in the two-day Malibu Tournament on Friday, Sept. 9, and Saturday, Sept. 10.

ST. FRANCIS
The Golden Knights lost a Mission League game at Loyola High in Los Angeles, 28-4, last Tuesday. No individual game statistics were reported to the Outlook Valley Sun.
St. Francis (3-4 overall, 0-2 in league) will battle Arcadia in a nonleague game on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 3:30 p.m.

LA CAÑADA
The Spartans were scheduled to travel to Birmingham High in Lake Balboa for a nonleague matchup on Friday, Sept. 2. However, the game was canceled due to heat.
