Residents Should Have Access to Pickleball Locally

First published in the Sept. 15 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

The city has been considering the various sites and development of pickleball courts in La Cañada Flintridge for more than 3-1/2 years.
They have identified Mayor’s Park as the best location for two to four courts. There is a state grant available to help with the cost of building them.
But in the meantime, there is another site that is underutilized and would be a quick, cost-effective solution to having more courts built by early next year. And that is the skate park. Putting in three courts there would offer our residents a centralized location to play with extended hours that accommodate everyone, as we wait for progress to be made at Mayors’ Discovery Park.
We know this sport is very popular throughout the country. Playing locally is an amenity that we should be able to offer our residents with as many courts as possible.
Build it and they will come!
