It was all about apples for the 2nd-graders at La Cañada Elementary School for their recent Apple Day celebration, in honor of National Johnny Appleseed Day.
To prepare for the big day, the students read books about Appleseed, and in celebration of his birthday, students ate homemade applesauce and apple pie.
Other activities included making a poster with a drawing of Appleseed and facts about him, tasting and graphing apples, writing an apple pie recipe, doing apple math and using pieces of apples and toothpicks to build towers.
