Reelect Radabaugh to School Board

First published in the Oct. 6 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

I want to share a bit about my friend Joe Radabaugh, who is running for LCUSD School Board re-election. I met Joe many years ago on the Cornishon soccer field when our boys were on the same AYSO team. I have witnessed firsthand how, when there is a need in this community, he is wired to respond.
Joe earned the opportunity to retire a few years back and as we talked about the incredible gift we have of living in this community, of making lifelong friendships, of owning homes here and the phenomenal opportunity of educating our children in this district, he pondered how he might serve. I am certain he had not pondered serving the LCUSD board (and the LCBSA, Kiwanis, Scouts, etc.) during two of the most tumultuous years in our lifetime. You learn a lot about leaders during crisis.
Joe’s commitment to serve and his leadership skills were on full display as he guided those ships successfully. I sat in those school board meetings where it is impossible to please everyone. In such extreme times, servant leaders work to bridge opposing sides as much as possible to keep things moving forward. Our children deserve that and it’s also priceless to the sense of overall community wellness we all enjoy.
Joe’s leadership has been proven in the trenches and is leadership we can trust (so much so that I volunteered to be a part of his re-election campaign team). I would love to see that kind of leadership activated for another term on our school board.

I strongly urge us to reelect Joe Radabaugh to the La Cañada Unified School District Governing Board. He will continue to be what we need on the School Board. For the last 4+ years Joe has worked hard toward preserving our schools, always remaining focused on what’s best for the kids. He’s proven time and time again a willingness to listen to the community and to advocate for balanced outcomes.
His sustained commitment to serving our community in so many different ways has been admirable, which gives him a strong pulse on the issues and various perspectives of families.
My husband and I and our children moved to La Cañada in 1970. Yes, we moved here for the schools. We watched our children learn and enjoy their years at our schools. We also have had grandchildren in the district, one still at La Cañada High. I know Joe and Tina have a 9th and 11th grader at LCHS as well.
I served on the La Cañada Unified School Board for 12 years, I know it is a serious responsibility. I know Joe well, and have seen firsthand how seriously he takes the responsibility and how often he goes above and beyond to invest the time necessary to fulfill the role in a manner we all benefit from.
Joe knows La Cañada, we need to make sure he is re-elected.
