The undefeated Flintridge Prep varsity eight-man football team matched last year’s win total by defeating visiting Grace Brethren High of Simi Valley, 53-35, last Thursday.
Senior quarterback Jack Jones completed 8-of-10 passes for 115 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 13 yards on three carries for the Wolves. Junior teammate Noah Willingham rushed for 127 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries and made three catches for 51 yards.
Junior quarterback Alex Chorba completed five passes for 50 yards and a touchdown, senior Luke Chapman had three receptions for 81 yards, and sophomore Aj Carre rushed for 18 yards on seven carries. Senior Nnamdi Nwaenia had three catches for 14 yards, freshman Will Grable caught a pair of passes for 14 yards and senior Luca Yeghnazar had one reception for 8 yards
With a victory over Grace Brethren, the Wolves have defeated both of last season’s CIF-SS Division I finalists as they steamrolled the nonleague portion of their schedule. The Wolves defeated last year’s CIF champion Cate High of Carpinteria to open the season, followed by a shutout over Thacher High of Ojai, which had defeated Flintridge Prep in the opening round of the 2021 CIF postseason.
The Wolves (4-0 overall) will open Prep League action by hosting Sage Hill High of Newport Beach (5-1 overall) on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m.
