Three Trash-Hauling Services Are Too Many

First published in the Oct. 13 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

Why do we still have three trash-hauling services in LCF?
Wouldn’t reducing down to a single hauler with only three trucks instead of nine pounding through our neighborhoods each week be an almost painless way to quickly help reduce our carbon emissions, noise and traffic? And it would save the city (tax payers) money by reducing costly wear/tear on our roads, too.
Reducing battery waste, banning gas-powered yard equipment, and incentivizing more solar on residential rooftops are great, but they are also a bit complicated and it’s taking time to figure out how to do them effectively.
In the meantime, switching to a single trash hauler seems almost like a no-brainer and something the city can get done quickly with positive environmental results.
How about we just get this done.
