St. Francis Remains Unbeaten in League

The St. Francis High School varsity football team won its fourth consecutive game and remained undefeated in Angelus League action after thumping visiting Crespi High of Encino 48-21 last Friday.
Senior quarterback Jack Jacobs completed 13-of-19 passes for 239 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 34 yards on five attempts.
Senior Devyn Turner made five catches for 69 yards and a pair of touchdowns while also rushing for 19 yards and a touchdown on four carries. Senior Jett Mccullough had a pair of receptions for 81 yards, both of which resulted in touchdowns, while senior Antonio Merlos made three catches for 60 yards. Sophomore John Sanders completed a pair of passes for 35 yards and rushed for 8 yards on 10 carries.
Senior Hank Foley had a pair of receptions for 24 yards while adding two tackles and an interception on defense. Junior John Calmette made a 29-yard catch while adding seven tackles and an interception on defense. Senior DruShun Phillips rushed for 5 yards on one attempt while adding four tackles and an interception on defense. Junior Giuliano Lampasona made a 6-yard catch, senior Owen Peterson rushed for 3 yards on four carries, and senior Clint Geryak and junior Alexander Ang each drilled a field goal.
Junior Preston Jernegan registered eight tackles while senior Michael Gordo had five tackles, a sack and an interception. Sophomore Jamie Lawyer made four tackles, while senior Ryan Doerfler, junior Phillip Ocon, junior Alex Juarez, sophomore Julian Navarro, sophomore Luke Cullen, and sophomore Thomas Deluccia each recorded three tackles. Junior Tyler Cofre had a pair of tackles and recovered a fumble, junior Joseph Sonner made two tackles, and senior Philippe Shammaa, senior Racin Delgatty, senior Logan Collazo, junior Adam Sandoval, sophomore Trent Seley each finished with one tackle.
St. Francis (6-2 overall, 3-0 in league) will continue league action by hosting St. Paul High of Santa Fe Springs (1-2 in league) on Friday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m.
