Congregational Church Dedicates Anderson Hall

La Cañada Congregational Church recently held a special dedication of Anderson Hall in honor of the church’s late former Senior Pastor Philip Longfellow Anderson.
The well-attended ceremony featured La Cañada Flintridge Mayor Eich presenting a certificate and state Sen. Portantino presenting a framed proclamation.

Anderson had the top job at La Cañada Congregational Church (formerly known as the Church of the Lighted Window) from 1977-99 and had been named pastor emeritus.
He also was involved with multiple local organizations in addition to his role at the church, including serving as director of the Community Concert Series, Lanterman House Museum and La Cañada Flintridge Ministerial Association.
Anderson, who received his bachelor’s degree from Pomona College and his Master of Divinity degree from Yale University Divinity School, was also the author of “The Gospel According to Disney — Christian Values in the Early Animated Classics.”
