La Cañada Shuts Out Temple City, 42-0

The La Cañada High School varsity football team posted its first shutout of the season by routing host Temple City, 42-0, in a Rio Hondo League game last Friday.
An impressive first half saw the Spartans gain a 35-0 advantage, more than enough to hold Temple City winless in league action.
Senior Macky Plocher completed 8-of-11 passes for 139 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also rushed for 32 yards on six carries.
Senior Corey Cheung rushed for a game-high 97 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 13 carries while adding one reception for 17 yards. Senior Trent Carey scored a touchdown on a 30-yard catch and added 7 rushing yards on one attempt, while junior Hayden Dancsecs scored on a 32-yard reception. Senior Andrew Gevorgian rushed for 11 yards and a touchdown on two carries, made three tackles and added a sack for a loss of 6 yards. Senior Royce Xiao went 4-for-4 in PAT attempts, while junior Ryan Franklin added a pair of extra points.
Junior Tyler Bond made a pair of receptions for 29 yards and added three tackles on defense, while junior Joseph Whooley made an 18-yard catch. Junior Alan Razo made a 10-yard reception and rushed for 4 yards on one attempt, sophomore Sohan Garg rushed for 7 yards on three carries, and senior Jake Hofman had a 3-yard catch.
Sophomore River Wokosin posted five tackles and a fumble recovery, while senior Mateo Gallegos and sophomore Josh Carruthers each registered five tackles. Junior Alex Quan finished with two tackles and a sack for a loss of 7 yards, junior Paulos Cucullu made two tackles and an interception, and junior Luke Raulli had two tackles and recovered a fumble. Senior Nyel Bangash, senior Jake Adkins, junior Kei Hartzberg and sophomore Warner Ibsen each made two tackles, while junior Anthon Cannon, junior Brandon Goldsby and sophomore Syem Bangash each had one tackle.
The third-place Spartans (5-4 overall, 2-2 in league) will host fifth-place Pasadena Polytechnic in their regular season and league finale on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. The CIF-SS playoff brackets will be released on Sunday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m.
