Marshall Fundamental’s Class of 2022 graduate Julia Franco earned every possible point on the 2022 Advanced Placement (AP) Capstone Research Exam.
Julia is one of 306 students in the world to earn and receive the maximum score on each portion of the exam. The AP Research exam is the culminating assessment for the AP Capstone Diploma. Julia’s 5,000+ word academic research paper was one of nearly 27,000 papers submitted to the College Board, from secondary schools around the globe.
Julia was enrolled in the Academy for Creative Industries (ACI) in the Music Track. She played in the Marching Band, the Jazz Band and the Wind Ensemble. She was recognized by the College Board as an AP Scholar with Distinction, by the National Hispanic Recognition Program as an outstanding Hispanic High School student and earned her AP Capstone Diploma. She is currently a freshman at UC Santa Barbara majoring in music.
Marshall Fundamental offers 22 Advanced Placement courses providing open access to all students. It is the only high school in the Pasadena Area to offer the two-year AP Capstone Diploma Program that includes AP Seminar and AP Research. Marshall Fundamental has a robust Performing Arts and Visual Arts program that includes band, choir, dance, drama, graphic design, stage tech and visual arts. It is home to the Academy for Creative Industries.
