Palm Crest Elementary’s first spirit rallies of the year recently took place in the school’s multipurpose room.
There were two rallies — one for the 1st- through 3rd-graders and another for 4th- through 6-graders. Students for both rallies dressed up as their favorite literary characters, participated in the pledge of allegiance, school song and had some fun playing games. Additionally, iRead participants were acknowledged at the event as well.
Palm Crest Elementary’s 2022 iRead Summer reading program was open to incoming 1st through 6th grade students, with 142 students who participated. More than 500 minutes qualified for various prizes, including a gift certificate to PCR’s Fall Book Fair and a certificate of recognition.
The winners for iRead 1-3 grade division are Mackenzie Balding (first place), Ava Choi (second place) and Sarah Regehr and Julian Chung (tied for third place).
The winners for iRead 4-6 grade division are Elisha Cho (first place), Anneke Wolpert (second place) and Lilly Young (third place).
