LCHS, FSHA Pick Up Opening Week Wins

The La Cañada High School varsity girls’ basketball team crushed host Van Nuys, 72-37, in a nonleague game last Friday, as sophomore Jennifer Musso amassed 29 points, including four 3-pointers to go along with six steals, four rebounds and two assists.
Junior Andrianna Pitsos racked up 18 points, including four 3-pointers, with seven boards and three steals, and senior Mia Oakley-Stilson registered eight points, six assists, five steals and three rebounds. Junior Isabella Chividjian tallied five points, one board, one steal and one block, freshman Madison Hunt recorded four points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block, and freshman Emma Sengul had a 3-pointer with a pair of boards and one assist. Senior Niloofar Sahimi posted three points and one steal, junior Talia Miyamoto collected three assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block, and sophomore Sydney Magtoto finished with two points.
The Spartans lost a nonleague game at Bell Gardens, 38-29, last Wednesday, as Pitsos scored 12 points on four 3-pointers with three rebounds and one steal. Oakley-Stilson recorded six points, seven boards, one assist and one block, Musso tallied four points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals, and Hunt finished with three points, three steals and two blocks. Miyamoto registered two points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal, Magtoto had two points and four rebounds, and Chividjian tallied two rebounds and one block.
LCHS previously routed host Pasadena High, 52-26, in its nonleague season opener last week.
La Cañada (2-1 overall) will visit the California School for the Deaf in Riverside on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE SACRED HEART
The Tologs collected their first win of the season after beating host Mayfield Senior in Pasadena, 54-31, in a nonleague game last Thursday, as junior Isabelle Risha amassed a double-double with 22 points, 18 rebounds and two steals.
Sophomore Ava Nawrocki registered 10 points, six steals, five boards and three assists, senior Sophia Heredia tallied six points, eight rebounds, five assists, three steals and one block, and senior Jazmin Jones finished with five points, six boards and one steal. Senior Meghan Garrity recorded five points, four rebounds and two steals, senior Gabriella Rogers had two points, four boards and one block, and sophomore Sophia Astacaan produced two points and two rebounds. Freshman Lori Yacoubian had two boards and two assists, freshman Grace Adair finished with two points and one steal, and freshman Isabella Hagobian notched one rebound.
FSHA previously opened the regular season with a nonleague loss at La Salle College Preparatory in Pasadena, 59-24. Nawrocki led the team with six points, one rebound, one assist and one steal, senior Cassandra Huston registered four points, two rebounds and one steal, Heredia finished with three points, six rebounds and two assists, and Garrity had three points, two rebounds and one steal. Jones tallied two points, four rebounds and two steals, Risha produced two points and three rebounds, and senior Siena Urquiza recorded two points, one rebound and one assist.
Flintridge Sacred Heart (1-1 overall) will battle Maranatha High of Pasadena in its San Marino Tournament opener on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 8 p.m.

FLINTRIDGE PREP
The Wolves opened the season by competing in the Muir High School Leave a Legacy Tipoff Tournament in Pasadena; the results will be included in next week’s issue.
Flintridge Prep will host Milken High of Los Angeles in its nonleague home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m.
