In response to Marilyn Pieroni’s “Let’s Come Together” letter to the editor in last week’s Outlook Valley Sun. As an independent, I found Ms. Pieroni’s submission a not-so-well-veiled list of conservative talking points.
My input regarding coming together, in the spirit of reducing the increasing partisanship, would be to actually offer to discuss each policy issue to see where agreement can be found.
Everyone I know, of all political persuasions, wants to see improvement on a comprehensive border policy and supports a well-staffed police force, among other issues.
The closing issue: “A legal voting system” is just bonkers — as it puts forth the idea that we do not have one. That is simply not true — and makes any potential “coming together” highly unlikely, if not impossible.
Here’s to a Happy New Year! And at least some of us coming together in a hopeful new year.
