Pickleball Coverage Lacks Balance

First published in the Dec. 15 print issue of the Outlook Valley Sun.

The Outlook Valley Sun’s front-page article from last week on the “Pickleball Deadlock” left me questioning your reporting.
If the purpose of the article was to inform the readers about a complex issue, why is it that you did not quote anyone from LCUSD on their concerns with the proposed plan? If their primary responsibility is the education of the community’s young people, they might see risks in this proposal that are not felt as strongly by the City Council. From this article, we have no idea of their issues.
I do not yet know how I would resolve this issue, and I do not have an ax to grind, but I do know that this article did not represent good, balanced journalism. It was an opinion piece on the front page. I hope the Outlook will refocus on balanced, informative reporting in future articles.
